A shoe-size label is only one part of a fit decision. Keep your foot measurements, the seller's chart and any order-specific insole evidence separate so you can see what is actually comparable.

This independent guide explains the shoe size evidence table. It does not provide a universal size conversion or guarantee that a pair will fit.

Keep three columns of evidence

Record personal measurements, seller-stated size information and QC measurements with their original units, methods and dates.

1. Record both feet consistently

Keep left and right foot length and width in separate fields, along with the measurement method, units, socks and date. Repeat a doubtful reading instead of treating an uncertain mark as exact.

Use the seller's stated measurement instructions when comparing with its chart. Keep the original readings rather than replacing them with a size letter.

Personal measurements belong in your private worksheet. Use invented sample values when sharing a public example.

2. Identify the exact shoe and variant

Save the product URL, visible item identifier, colour and selected size. Record the size system exactly as labelled, such as EU, UK or US, without silently treating the numbers as equivalent.

Check whether the chart applies to the actual model and intended category. A generic chart from another product is not evidence for the selected pair.

Keep the seller's wording alongside your own notes so a later check can trace the original information.

3. Distinguish the length fields

Foot length describes the foot. Insole length describes the measured insole. Outsole length describes the exterior sole. A recommended foot-length range is another field supplied by a chart.

Do not substitute one for another or add a universal allowance without support from the product's sizing guidance. Width and shoe shape may also affect suitability.

When a listing says only “length”, record Method unclear until the meaning is established.

4. Read the seller chart without inventing conversions

Copy the selected size and its stated measurement or range, keeping the chart source and date. Preserve the units before making a clearly labelled conversion.

If the chart lists more than one size system, record its exact mapping for this product. Do not assume another seller uses the same mapping.

If a relevant field is missing, use Unknown. Your usual brand size can provide context, but it is not confirmation for this listing.

5. Check an insole QC photograph

Where an appropriate photo is available, check that the ruler or tape shows both endpoints and readable units. Confirm which shoe or insole is being measured and whether it belongs to the chosen variant.

A curved, obscured or angled view can limit the reading. Record the uncertainty instead of rounding it into a confident fit result.

Do not assume that an insole can be removed or measured in every product. Request only the evidence available through the relevant service.

6. Work through a measurement example

Illustrative example: a personal foot record says 260 mm, while a photo appears to show an insole length of 270 mm. The numbers measure different things. Record them separately; the difference alone does not establish fit.

If the seller's chart instead provides a recommended foot-length range, compare that range with the personal record and keep the exact model and size context.

7. Record the remaining uncertainty

8. Recheck before ordering

Open the listing again and confirm the selected size system, colour, availability and chart. Record the new check date.

Keep price and shipping questions separate from fit evidence. A lower displayed price does not resolve a missing size measurement.

If the product or option changed, start a new comparison rather than carrying over the old fit decision.
